Holy Rosary Chapter of the Dominican Laity invites you to join us for our annual retreat May 3-5, 2024 at Out Lady of Peace Retreat. The theme is “The Eucharistic Conformity of the Human Heart to the Triune God” with Fr. Joseph Selinger, OP.

(Refrigeration & Microwave oven are available for those with special dietary needs. The Sisters CANNOT accommodate the VEGAN dietary needs.)

Registration Fee for Full weekend (Overnight stay): $40.00
Cost of Full Weekend is $250 plus $40 registration fee = $290.00
Those staying overnight need to bring their own towel & wash cloth & toiletries.

Prayer Intentions for June/July 2023

Prayer Intentions for Chapter Members

If anyone has been missed on this list of intentions and has/d need, please do understand you were remembered and as always with prayer comes a deep peace in knowing all of us have prayed so very hard and know our prayers have been answered in so many ways. Also bear in mind that we have our Prayer cards and the intended Dominican Laity member that is assigned to you to pray for. That is the intended purpose for the card.

A most important intention needs consideration in our prayer intentions and that is the Persecuted Christians within the entire world please pray a special decade of the rosary with this intention on a daily basis. We also need to pray for peace in this world

Keep praying for Fr. Tony for his ministry and possibly offer a Daily Mass for his intentions.


John Walsh has been diagnosed with a serious neuro-muscular disorder and is undergoing tests and treatment. He was getting better but had a setback last month. We pray he can improve and rejoin our meetings in person soon. Susie King has been struggling with cellulitis and other physical challenges and continues to need prayers as well as her sister Joan who has a sinus problem now. John Fazio suffering from Parkinsons, Mary Vaetz and Susie King are isolated. Margaret’s grandson, Michael, who had surgery but is not doing very well and family may have found another specialist to further treat him. Lisa Eliott’s niece, Carissa. For Dolores Schantin, who wanted to join the Dominican Laity but can’t because of health problems and needs prayers for her health to improve. Jim Woolf’s brother, John Woolf has lymphoma. Cecelia’s brother-in-law, Heracles Petropaki is very ill and may be dying. Antonia requests prayers for her mother, Maria Elena who has high blood pressure and other problems, her nephew and his wife and young daughters as well as the wife’s mother who are seriously ill in Cuba with a collapsed health care system. For the daughter of Alejandra Carrillo de la Mora and her family who are also facing a similar situation of a child on the way with severe genetic problems. Mary Ann’s niece and niece’s husband, Patty and Randy McAfee recovering from covid and another niece’s husband, Dave Bear as well as Mary Ann’s brother, Ray Colrud with heart issues. Kay’s son Christopher has a hernia and needs continued prayers. Annette Wostl’s nephew, Carlos Aguilar, is very ill and they can’t find the cause. Jacquelin Candello’s daughter’s ex husband Shawn Miller’s heart be changed Nickie The ex wife of Shawn Daughter Kitt for her discernment in matters very private.

Tony Garca from Brenda’s old parish.
He is a civilian engineer contractor in Afghanistan. He is working with a private group to get out. For the closure of the Lilith Abortion Clinic. From Kay Hampton, pray for Sen. Joe Manchin (WV) and all politicians, esp. Catholic ones. Molly Woolf’s brother, David Jensen is a staunch atheist and needs prayers as well as Molly needs prayers for wisdom when she is communicating with him. Roberta Powell’s daughter, Catherine and her husband Dan who had their first child in July. Pray that they return to the faith and get their son baptized. Noelle Liwana, a parishioner at Holy Rosary who is being pressured to sign a statement contrary to Catholic teaching by a Catholic institution.

RIP: Sister Margaret and now Sister Rosemarie from the Franciscan Missionary Sisters at OLP Retreat. Roberta’s aunt, Catherine Saul, passed away. Brenda requests prayers for the repose of the soul of Fr. Tran, OP, a Dominican priest in Vietnam who was murdered while hearing confessions and Mary Cutler from St. Vincent Ferrer Parish in Calif. who passed away. Jackie Sweet from Our Lady of Sorrows Parish also passed away and needs prayers. Roberta’s former co-worker, Chris Strand, lost her husband, David Strand to cancer. Per Karen Korn, Miladeh in Lebanon passed away.

Prayer List for July-August 2022

For healing for those who are ill: John Walsh had a set back in his illness and will be getting treatment at OHSU. Cecelia asks that we pray for the intercession of Venerable Bishop Fulton Sheen on her behalf for her serious health problems. Susie King asks for continued prayers. John Fazio suffering from Parkinsons, Mary Vaetz and Susie King are isolated. Istvan Fuleki, Margaret’s husband, who has congestive heart failure. Margaret’s grandson, Michael, who had surgery but is not doing very well and family may have found another specialist to further treat him. Patrick Hartigan’s father, Arthur Hartigan who is very ill and on hospice. Lisa Eliott’s niece, Carissa with mental struggles and aunt Trudy with cancer and a bad relationship, the caregiver Vicky and now her mother, Mary Graham who has covid. For Dolores Schantin, who wanted to join the Dominican Laity but can’t because of health problems and needs prayers for her health to improve. Jim Woolf’s brother, John Woolf has lymphoma. Cecelia’s brother-in-law, Heracles Petropaki is very ill and may be dying. Jacqueline Candello needs prayers for her daughter, Dominique who is in an abusive relationship and the son-in-law, Lucas and their daughter, Satara (Kitt) who is having difficulties because of it. Also for Dominique’s ex-husband, Shawn Miller who was also abusive. For Carl Staple who is critically ill, per Brenda. He is from her previous chapter. Also for Geoff, son-in-law of members of Brenda’s previous chapter. For Juan who had open heart surgery per Patrick. For Garth Rose who is struggling with depression and who has some sort of respiratory illness. Please pray for Jacqueline Candello who is fighting covid.

Liz Hathaway, future postulant, was extubated Wednesday, June 8. She was able to speak to her son, Br Anthony Maria (student brother at St. Albert’s, Oakland), on the phone. She is still in the icu, but all her vitals appear to be trending in the right direction, so it’s great news! Thanks be to God! Thank you for checking in on her and please thank the chapter for all their prayers and concern. I know it was very much appreciated by everyone! -Suzie Schwartz
